- Effort -

When equating the work done as kinetic energy in physics, all forces acting on a particle contribute to the total work done. Effort is the work done against a force to move an object.

"The heights by great men reached and kept, Were not attained by sudden flight, But they, while their companions slept, Were toiling upward in the night." – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Working hard or hardly working?

When you interact with an individual you see working on a project, a task, a hobby, or just enjoying some down time. While funny, or mildly inconveniencing. The answer often lies in the distinction between humor, or pride. The effort is relative to the individual's circumstances and goals. Where some may see the effort as a burden, others may view it as a necessary step towards their objectives.

But what value does the work bring to the individual? Are they simply doing a job, or pushing themselves to achieve something greater?

When an individual reaches for more, always finding a little more to give. More effort to push forward, to complete the next task. More drive to find themselves deeper and strive for excellence. Others notice and recognize it as an ethic. If every decision has an impact, if every choice has consequences, and every action provides justification for an outcome. Why shouldn't we strive for more? Why should you just show up every day, and settle for what you already have?

It's safer, and has no risk.

When you reach your limit, and break. Others notice. But the individual does not recognize what drove them through to the resulting outcome. Most only recognize the difference between the performance, and the defeat.

The risks of failure is what isolate us.

Realizing the potential, is where we find our true strength. You can always try again, you can always practice and persist in your performance. You can not start where you do not begin. By speaking up, we overcome the bystander effect. By working harder, we complete more and achieve more desirable results. By pushing further, we discover new possibilities and unlock our full potential. These efforts plant the seeds that compound over time and contribute to greater growth. The discomfort, the fear, the uncertainty. It creates a barrier. One that is easily overcame with a direction and force that every individual is capable of. Humans have the power of drive. To push through these challenges and should they fail. Individuals can improve, adapt, and challenge themselves again.

We are all capable of more than we think. We are all capable of pushing ourselves to the limits of our potential. We are all capable of achieving, if we are willing to put in the effort.

Mountains are immovable, only when we make the decision they can not be moved.

Cutting corners may seem easier in the short term, but it often leads to subpar results and missed opportunities for growth. It is a choice that impacts not only the quality of the work but also the individual's development and self-respect. Undermining others may provide temporary advantages, but it erodes trust and damages relationships, ultimately hindering long-term success. By embracing challenges and putting in the necessary effort, individuals can achieve their goals and build a foundation for future accomplishments.

Finding the courage to face our fears and embrace the unknown is a crucial step towards personal growth and fulfillment. Finding the strength to persevere through difficulties and the wisdom to learn from our experiences are key components of this journey. Failure is not an option when every interaction, every task, every challenge presents an opportunity for growth. And refinement is necessary for improvement. As iron sharpens iron, so does ones effort sharpen themselves.

Motivation is a falsehood shrouded by the very people who claim to possess it. The truth is a choice, a decision made, to commit to our goals and values. To become who we aspire to be.

Claim integrity, and prosper in it.
